In all the years we had been coming to Lipe, we had never arrived on the ferry from Langkawi before and in all likelihood never will again. The ferry was great, getting off the ferry was the usual chaos but waiting to get stamped through customs was nasty. It was hot, not much shade, we weren’t supposed to leave and there was a tonne of people. The local Thai customs will check your passport, call you up in groups per country and give you a form to complete then you go through to another line to get stamped in. I think this took well over an hour.
Once we got through that, we headed over to the Reef and some relaxation! The Reef was great as usual, greeted and taken to our room. There had been some massive renovations and Mojo cafe was open. We were treated to amazing breakfasts, Adam and Tina even arranged to make some gluten free bread… it was excellent and we ate more than was good for us.
This visit was more about connecting. We got to see Adam and Tina, Rudi and Odne, Bram and Alyssa, Rob and Laura, Lydia, Luna and Simon, Milos, Sombun, Ay, Oh & Su, Somchai and Nok. It was so nice to be able to spend time with old friends and meet new ones. We met Rahim and Ania, Rahim’s parents and even spent time with some Russians, until they drank my beer… still waiting on the promised replacement! We had lots of delicious meals at San Pita, various little local places, OMG’s and of course we had to go visit Nee Papaya! We celebrated Odne’s birthday, spent time on the beach, all caught colds to varying degrees, had awesome times and made lots of new memories.
It was a very relaxing visit, could even call it lazy since we didn’t even do one snorkel trip but it was a great time. It was a nice way to rest up for our next adventure… the PCT!
